This course is aimed at fee earners and paralegals new to immigration. It focuses on how to run an asylum application and looks at the relevant legislation and practical steps to be taken. It will also cover the main Legal Aid regulations applicable to legal help files.

We will cover:

  • – The Geneva Convention grounds
  • – Human rights
  • – Funding regime
  • – Practical steps and liaising with the UKVI
  • – File maintenance
  • – How to advise the client
  • – Common errors and problems

This course will be delivered by Gabriella Bettiga, consultant immigration solicitor and chair of the Independent Funding and Costs Adjudicators at the Legal Aid Agency.
