Introduction to European Union Law
This is one of a series of online courses that we offer in relation to EU law. The others are
- European Union law – Becoming an expert Part 2
- European Union law – Becoming an expert Part 2
- Turkish workers and businesspeople.
Inevitably the Becoming an expert and our Introduction courses overlap somewhat as it is not feasible to fully differentiate between basic and advanced knowledge, and besides, some delegates will want to go straight to the Becoming an expert course without doing the Introduction first: so if you have already taken the basic course, some of what follows will already be familiar to you.
The Becoming an expert Part 1 course provides significantly more details than the Introduction with regard to general principles of EU law, residence rights beyond the Citizens Directive, parents as workers, ceasing activities as a worker, self-sufficient children, derived residence rights, extended family members and the exercise of discretion, and evidencing EEA applications including where the Secretary of State should assist with enquiries. European Union law – Becoming an expert Part 2 addresses subjects such as appeals under the EEA Regulations, deportation, Accession countries, abuse of rights, sickness insurance and the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
